Hips, Hips, Hooray?
29/3/06 02:46:40 AM
Today was very quiet at Smiliesam, as two of my most vocal girls went to visit the vet for their hips to be Xrayed. The Xrays, which I saw when I picked them up, look very good. They have now gone to the BVA for scoring. They are inspected to see if there are any signs of hip dysplasia and a number given to each hip. The highest hip score you can get is 53/53. A perfect score is 0/0. You will see a list of hip scores on my 'History' page. In the last week my vet has relieved my of some ?600. This is the sort of outlay that the people who breed 'just for pets' will not make. Nor will they say they have used all available technology to try and ensure the puppies they breed have a long and happy life.
Tally, Ho!
28/3/06 1:25:21 PM
This weekend saw the first outing , aged 17 months, of Yenisei Sparkling Ice. Tally had a wonderful time and achieved a First in Undergraduate Bitch and Second in Postgraduate Bitch, thus qualifying for Crufts at her first ever show! Well done Tally! Thanks of course go to her breeder, Daphne Hopkins for letting me have this lovely girl. Also during the weekend, Karen and Nina had another good show with a Best Puppy in Breed and being pulled into the last cut in this show, not run on a group system. Congrats to them! Karen continues to do well with this versatile bitch.
Freezing in Worthing
11/2/06 2:43:24 PM
Karen braved the bitter cold to go to Worthing Open Show at Ardingly, where any exhibitor fights to keep their dog clean, never mind keeping a Samoyed in pristine condition. The lovely Nina won Best AVNSC Puppy and crowned the day with the Pastoral Puppy Group. What a trooper! Well done Karen and Nina!!
Nina takes Karen out

Weekend Results
1/2/06 03:44:19 AM
Not a lot to brag about this weekend. Two shows resulted in a couple of firsts and a couple of seconds for Zana and Wembley plus one RBOB for Zana at Lichfield Show. Zana will be in full coat for Crufts we hope and will be joined there by Wembley. Gloria will have her first outing as a Veteran there as well! Meanwhile, there are plans afoot............ gosh, we can't wait! Tally didn't make it out as I forgot to enter her! Sigh.
Updates
19/1/06 2:26:15 PM
My trusting web master has given me the access codes for my site. So I have been adding and subtracting and amending. After a lull of a couple of years, it is back in action and I will be amending as necessary. Puppy enquiries should be sent to me directly, not through the Guest Book!
Wembley at Boston

No, not Boston ,US, but Boston Lincolnshire, UK. Smiliesam Just the One (pet name, Mrs Wembley) won Best AVNSC Puppy and Pastoral Puppy Group 1. Well done Wembley. This also was the first time in ages I trusted myself not to fall over in the ring, but will probably resort to handlers, professional and amateur, during 2006.
